Hmm, apparently Johns promised that the Blackest Night event would
deal with the "revolving door of death" so prevalent at DC in recent
years. And now I see at the end of BN#4 Nekron rises from the site of
Coast City and tells the Flash, *"Barry Allen. You owe me your life.
YOU ALL DO."*
Sounds like John's idea is that Nekron was somehow behind how easy it's
been to return from the dead in the DCU, and that when he's defeated
it won't be so easy anymore.
For a while, perhaps -- after they resurrect Batman and a few others
first,
I'll wager.
Johns already "closed" the revolving door of death in a Titans story
back during Infinite Crisis...now he's backpedaling...and Batman isn't
actually dead so he doesn't really need to be resurrected so much as
relocated.
Didio has already admitted in interviews what he all already know here
(surprisingly candidly even)...however this storyline turns out, the
resurrections aren't going to stop...character deaths and
resurrections are a staple of this genre and always have been...they
may seem a little more prevalent these days (although, personally, I
think it's just that they are making a bigger deal out of it these
days) but it has always happened and will continue long after Blackest
Night is forgotten.
Of course, I don't want to give Didio too much credit for actually
giving a straight answer for once since, in the same interview, he
stupidly refuses to even admit that there will even be a DC Universe
when Blackest Night is over...man, I wish that guy would get
shitcanned already...and blackballed from the industry like Chuck
Austen.
